The History Game Show (Episode 4) by Michael Ceraolo
The History Game Show (Episode 4)
We are here at the Supreme Court to hear oral arguments in the case of Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad, a consolidation of three related cases. Chief Justice Waite will make an announcement prior to the beginning of the arguments.
The Chief Justice: "The Court does not wish to hear argument
on the question whether the provision
in the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution
which forbids a state to deny
to any person within its jurisdiction
the equal protection of the laws
applies to these corporations
We are all of the opinion it does"
And there you have it, folks. No reason to remain for the arguments. Be sure to tune in next time for another episode of
THE PERSONS' COURT
(Lights go down.)
