Holiday Observance by Michael Ceraolo
Even as a child
I never dreamed of a white Christmas
(just like the ones we used to know)
But recently
I dreamed of a white New Year's Eve
(just like the ones we've never known):
enough snowfall that last hour of the year
to keep inside those who come out at midnight
to shoot off guns and firecrackers
I was awakened from the dream
by those guns and firecrackers
