Where Once a Dream Lied Awake

I once was a butterfly

My wings the color of honey

 I flew with the wind

My world vast

... endless in possibility

And I dreamed 

Anew

Alive in wonder

Waking with the dawn

Sleeping to the thunder

Alas, time, also endless

Changed my world within

And I couldn’t know 

I would transform yet again

The metamorphosis ever painful

The journey brand new

For I was once a butterfly

Asleep …in her cocoon
