Whitey Ford by Michael Ceraolo
Whitey Ford
I loved Casey,
and over the course of his tenure
he was great for the team,
but he cost us the Series in 1960
There is no Mazeroski walk-off homer
if I'm pitching Game Seven,
which I would have been doing
had Casey started me in Game One
instead of in Game Three
And, to be selfish for a moment,
Casey's not having a regular rotation
kept my career numbers down:
most of my best years came after
he was let go in 1960,
and were due to my getting
six to eight more starts a year
under his successors
