You Died Today by Jane Ayers Sweat
You died today
But nobody knew
Your body stayed in form
Only I remained here
Battered by the storm.
There was only me to grieve
A loss that felt like Death
No one else felt the pain
That cut into my Soul
And ever will remain.
The world has not stopped turning
Though I badly want it to
A loss this tragic
Can only be felt
By we two.
I wish you well on your journey
That you must take alone.
Perhaps, some day,
You'll remember a place
You once called Home.
