Sappho's Gift by William J. Burlingame
SAPPHO’S GIFT
Through fields of violets
softly step, draw near.
Share my heart,
bring joy to my soul.
Muse now divine,
sing your songs,
words everlasting.
A brief moment be as one,
that I may move on.
Lay your breath upon the gentle breeze.
