Ten Years Gone by Jane Ayers Sweat
Ten Years Gone
My heart still aches
Splintered in pieces
Anew it breaks.
I still cry a lot
When I think of you
And your sweet twinkling
Eyes of blue.
The world has changed
Since you've gone
But knowing you're safe
Helps me hold on.
I miss our talks
And all our fun
I don't laugh anymore
Because you were like my son.
You'd be proud of your children
Now they're grown
Your sister took them in
And gave them a home.
I talk to you every night
And pray to God to keep you safe
I pray to join you soon
Then my heart won't ache.
