Grandma's House by Jane Ayers Sweat

Take me back to Grandma's house
When I was young and free
Where we'd sit at the kitchen table
And talk over glasses of tea.

So full of love and peace
A place where smells came alive
A safe place
Where I began to thrive.

She had a home remedy
For every time I was sick
Whatever I had
It left real quick.

A seamstress extraordinaire
She made all my clothes
She even sewed for Barbie and Ken
Barbie had so many bows.

We cooked in cool weather
Making soup and tea cakes galore
Thinking of those now
Makes me miss her more.

Love your grandma all you can
Kiss her every day
Let her go when that day comes
With nothing left to say.
